Then next day Dad went to town to get hay so us kids stayed home and watched Coraline the movie and played monopoly. That night Rose-elle and I set up the movie fast five (the 5th fast and furious) To have a movie marathon but we didn't watch the first movie of fast and furious because we would by up to late. Then on Sunday, Dad went up to do the horse paddocks so I rode my bike up with Ruby & Chloe (our dogs) to him.

Weekend Blog post

Weekend Journal
On Friday I was playing outside and I smashed my leg on the side of the deck and nearly broke it. I am lucky I didn't break it. The next day was Saturday, Thomas, Mum and I went to Bob's house to watch the Chiefs vs the Crusaders game. Mum and I left after the first half to go to a fundraiser from 9PM to 12PM. The fundraiser was a success. When it finished Bob came to pick us up to go watch the Hurricanes vs the Lions. On Sunday I finished my story for home links.

Review of the open window art

The open window
The painting open window by Henri Matisse, is a landscape of a window in France. Outside the double window, there are boats on the sandy shore. On the windowsill the are plant pots with flowers. This painting was painted when Henri Matisse was looking outside his window.

This painting will grip you, and you will want to see more of his pleasing art.

I like how Henri Matisse has used different painting techniques. One of the techniques is dabbing, dabbing is where you press a paintbrush down on the canvas, this technique is used for the flora in the painting. Another technique is long strokes, Henri Matisse used long strokes for the window and the background. He has also used short strokes for the boats and flower pots. I think that it is a quality painting, because he used different brush strokes to add more detail.

Henri Matisse has used range of hot and cold colours. The sky has a mixture of blue, pink, purple, and white, all the colours mix well together the are very well contrasted. One half of the background is a hot pink while the other half is a turquoise, they are not touching, but it still contrasts well.

I like how Henri Matisse painted outside his room window. I like it because it is unique because nearly every artist paints from a different perspective, and it is very detailed. I also like it because the people can see what Henri Matisse looks at nearly everyday, It is a wonderful view so I think that many people will like it. I can make a connection of when I lived closer to Moana I would look out my double window every day and see a beautiful sunrise or sunset.

Overall I think it is a wonderful painting. I think that Henri Matisse has put a lot of time and thought into this painting. It looks like Henri Matisse has a lot of skills for painting.

I recommend all of of Henri Matisse’s paintings, take a look at this website and look up Henri Matisse so you can see all of his paintings and you can learn about him. The link- https://www.nga.gov/content/ngaweb.html

for my creative response I wrote a poem about the view then I painted some vines on the paper. I put a piece of blue paper as the background then I sploshed some dark blue paint on it.
