Summer learning journey week 1 day 2

Setting sail (Day 2)
Activity-  Imagine that you were on board one of the wakas. On your blog, write a short letter to a friend telling them about your voyage to New Zealand. In the letter be sure to tell them how you feel about moving to a new country.

Day 1- We set out on the beautiful, still sea. leaving behind the loved ones to find a new land. At first we were moving slowly but as the minuets passed by the waka was going faster and faster. I was concerned and scared for the journey ahead of us. Our families and our Country will be proud of us because we will find a new land to live on. My home was getting smaller and smaller as we drifted out further in the sea, my home stared to fade out of my sight.

day 2- It's my second day on the waka and to be honest i'm not feeling great, I am hungry, thirsty, tired and I miss my family, the salty air fills my lungs as I take deep breaths to calm myself. I barely know anyone on this waka I have no one to talk to, I am so lonely. The waves get bigger and bigger as we go along. The clouds get darker and darker, this worries me for whats ahead of us. The sun starts to set and another day comes to and end, yet the leader is still shouting out commands.

day 3- It's my 3rd day on this waka and the sun is rising, i have made new friends but I still miss my home. It gets colder and colder as we go  further. I can't wait until we have arrived at our destination. Everyone knows everyone and I'm the left one out. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.

day 17- I now know everyone on the waka and I'm not missing my home as much as I was before. I have seen the bad side of going on this journey but i have also seen the good side. I am use to the food and the water know so the trip is not so bad now.
